Starting weight 193.6
Weigh in #2 - 189.8
Loss 3.8 pounds

Almost four pounds gone.   That’s in the average of two pounds per week, since I didn’t go last week.  I’m happy.  If I’d exercised, it might have been more.
The meeting was useful.  We discussed “Actunity.”  Find the opportunity for activity.  I don’t like the word “exercise.”  It [...]

I’m a slacker

May 14th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Three weeks in, and I’ve still not started exercising.  I have all kinds of excuses, none of them really any good.
No more crap, no more anything.  From this point on, I will exercise at least 3 days for at least 30 minutes.  More will be preferable.  But, I need to start somewhere.  Will do some [...]

Love Exercise?

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

How many of us love exercise? I don’t, but it is a necessary evil.

Can I lose weight without exercising? Yes. But, exercising gives me more energy. If I want to eat a little bit more, 30-60 mins of exercise allows me to do so without guilt!

The first time I walked into the gym, I was overwhelmed. Where to start, what to do? All those people in there working their butts off, and I felt like a fat lump. They were going to laugh at me! But, I made up my mind that I wanted to do this, so I jumped on the treadmill, I set it for 30 minutes. Ten minutes later, my legs were wobbly, and I gave up. Thought I was going to embarrass myself by falling on my face! But, I didn’t. I wasn’t satisfied with that 10 minutes, so I decided to ride one of the stationary bikes. Upright or recumbent? I chose the recumbent because it looked easier. I already had an upright bike at home. Because I had a bad back (because of my weight and an epidural due to two deliveries), I found the recumbent to be easier. I rode that for 30 minutes. Did it make me tired? Yep, it sure did. I gave up on trying any of the other machines, got dressed and went home. Satisfied that at least it was a start!
